More News That Disputes Declining Gun Ownership Meme

posted on August 17, 2016

While anti-gun advocates continue to push their nonsensical theory that gun ownership is rapidly declining in the United States, despite all-time record high gun sales for the past 15 months, a report out of northeast Texas further puts the lie to their assertion.

A feature in the Longview News-Journal states that, among other things, women and first-time gun buyers are making up a large portion of some gun shops’ business. "The biggest increase we have seen has been in women shooters, and it's still across the board (in age and race)," David Kidder, manager of Top Shot Indoor Range and Guns, told the News-Journal.

Kidder continued: "We spend an awful lot of our time working with first-timers here. What we find is, most of the ones that weren't shooters in the past, once they get past that fear, they enjoy the sport. ... Probably, in five years, what you're going to see is the number of women shooters going up dramatically over what it was five years ago.”

Hmmmm, lot of time working with first-timers. That doesn’t sound like all of the record gun sales are due to the same gun owners buying more and more guns, as many on the other side of the issue would have us believe.
