California Legislative Session Winding Down—Finally

posted on August 22, 2016

With only two weeks left in California’s legislative session, Golden State gun owners must remain vigilant in supporting good legislation while continuing to fight bad measures.

One bill that needs support before the session ends is AB 2510, which would allow local law enforcement authorities to issue concealed carry weapons (CCW) identification cards approved by the State of California Department of Justice (DOJ) as proof that individuals are licensed in the state.

Two bad measures—SB 1332 and AB 450—also need the immediate attention of gun owners. SB 1332 would modify the firearm registration process to allow for joint registration by spouses and domestic partners, and require DOJ to maintain both names on the registry. AB 450 would delete the $100 fee limit on CCW application processing and require more fees to cover issuing and enforcement of a license. Please contact members of the Assembly Public Safety Committee and ask that they oppose AB 450 by clicking here.

USE YOUR POWER!

Make sure the last two weeks of the legislative session are positive for gun owners. Californians should contact their assembly members and ask them to support AB 2510 and oppose SB 1332 by clicking here.
