Sen. Murphy: To Be A Leader In The Democratic Party, You Have To Be “Right” On Guns

posted on August 9, 2016

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., told Politico yesterday that “if you want to be a leader in the Democratic Party, I think this presidential election has proven that you have to be right on the issue of guns.” Of course, “right,” in this case, means “wrong.”

“This has become a litmus-test issue for leadership in the Democratic Party,” Murphy continued. “We should accept that cracking down on our gun laws, yes, will prevent more mass tragedies like Sandy Hook, will cut down on the rates of urban gun violence, but will also be a pretty effective counter-terrorism strategy.”

Americans don’t respond well to politicians telling us what “we should accept.” In addition, gun owners know mass murderers, drug gangs and terrorists don’t care about gun laws. However, Murphy is right about one thing—current Democratic Party leaders are willing to trample your rights in their rush to the White House
