Zinke Order Will Expand Hunting, Fishing Opportunities

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has issued Order No. 3356, which calls for studies to identify ways to broaden opportunities for hunting and fishing on federal land.

Secretary Zinke, an NRA Life member who has already demonstrated support for hunters and anglers, stated that the purpose of the order was “… to inform how best to enhance and expand public access to lands and waters administered by the [Interior] Department—lands and waters owned by all Americans—for hunting, fishing, recreational shooting, and other forms of outdoor recreation.” He also called for “… engaging youths, veterans, minorities, and underserved communities …”  as new hunters while working more closely with states, tribes and other regional jurisdictions.

Order No. 3356 requires that the Interior Department submit a series of reports to the Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council and the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council for feedback, and that it must produce a list of recommended “specific actions” within 30 days. We are pleased to see that Secretary Zinke is not only saying the right things, but proving that he is a man of action.

Hillary Touts NRA Power In “What Happened”

While Hillary Clinton’s new book, What Happened, is chock full of lies, at least the failed presidential contender recognizes the role 5 million law-abiding National Rifle Association members played in her defeat.

The book, and Clinton’s corresponding book-signing tour, mainly serves to assign blame to the politicians, journalists, organizations, countries, prejudices and technologies she claims caused her defeat. But gun rights supporters will be happy to know that NRA is featured prominently.

“As for the NRA, it kept its promise to do everything it could to stop me,” she wrote. “All told, the gun lobby spent more than $30 million supporting Trump, more money than any other outside group and more than double what it spent to support Mitt Romney in 2012. About two-thirds of that money paid for more than 10,000 negative ads attacking me in battleground states.”

We can all be thankful for that.

Fate Of 3 Anti-Gun Bills Lies With California Governor

California lawmakers are relentless in their quest to quash every last gun right in the state. On Monday, the following anti-gun bills passed the legislature and now sit on Gov. Jerry Brown’s desk for signing.

Assembly Bill 7 would prohibit the open carry of an unloaded long gun in a public place or street within an unincorporated portion of a county.

Assembly Bill 424 would remove the authority of a school district superintendent, his or her designee, or equivalent school authority to provide written permission for a person to possess a firearm within a school zone.

Senate Bill 464 would further increase the mandatory storage and security requirements for licensed firearms dealers. California already has some of the strictest laws in the country regarding how dealers must store and secure firearms.

Police Say Armed Washington Homeowner Did Everything Right

When Marysville, Wash., homeowner used his firearm to protect himself and his family on Monday, he handled the situation admirably, according to local law enforcement officials.

According to a report at Q13fox.com, Joe Hemrich came face to face in his own home with a criminal being sought by police. “This the first time in my life it has ever come out of a holster, when I wasn’t at a range,” Hemrich told Q13fox.com. “I train so I know exactly where it is, exactly how to pull it out, whether my finger is going on the trigger.”

Hemrich ordered the man, a transient with four warrants for his arrest, to the front yard and onto the ground, then held him there until police arrived—never firing a shot. Marysville police told the news station that Hemrich did everything right in Monday morning’s altercation.
