Law enforcement officers across the country are asked to nominate fellow officers who qualify for the NRA Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and Law Enforcement Instructor of the Year awards. Both applications are due by December 15 of this year.

The Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award was established in 1993 to recognize exceptional service or a noteworthy action that went above and beyond, either in dedication, service or duty. The nomination must be made by someone who has knowledge of the nominee’s actions. Recommenders can include the individual’s agency head, other law enforcement personnel, elected officials, community leaders, interested citizens and NRA members.

Nominations are reviewed by NRA’s Law Enforcement Division for proper documentation and eligibility before presentation to the NRA Law Enforcement Assistance Committee. All submissions will be reviewed in January 2019.

The second award is given for Law Enforcement Instructor of the Year by the Law Enforcement Division to a firearm instructor who has gone well beyond their training assignment and dedication to teach their students.

Parties interested in submitting a nomination for either award must fill out a PDF form email the form.
