M&P Shield Still Going Strong at 3 Million Produced

Smith & Wesson is still seeing success with their M&P Shield pistol series, announcing June 19 that they have sold and shipped 3 million models of the popular carry gun.

Since the Shield’s release in 2012, the gun has proved popular as a conceal carry firearm among consumers. The Shield series boasted interchangeable grips, an ergonomic grip angle to create a natural point of aim, and slim profile that allowed for better concealed carry. Smith & Wesson also paid attention to its customers in an effort to create an affordable carry gun that delivered versatility and ease of use with its redesigned trigger system. The series is manufactured in four chamberings: 380 Auto, 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 Auto.

By 2015, the series had sold a million units to consumers.

“Over the past seven years, the M&P Shield pistol has continued to be the handgun of choice for personal protection. The M&P Shield pistol design hits the sweet spot between shootability, concealment and power to provide a reliable personal protection pistol,” said Smith & Wesson President Lane Tobiassen.

Tobiassen stressed the importance of meeting consumer demand in the marketplace. “We are honored to be the firearm of choice for consumers across the country who have chosen the M&P Shield pistol for their personal protection needs.”
