Joe Biden recently announced plans to nominate California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to his cabinet as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Becerra, it should be noted, has a track record of standing against the right to keep and bear arms. Most recently, he attempted to ban standard-capacity magazines in California, a decision that was thankfully overturned by a three-judge panel in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; however, Becerra has sought a further review of the case by filing a petition for an en banc hearing.

“Predictably, California’s attorney general wants to override our recent victory in the Ninth Circuit, where the arbitrary ban against standard-capacity magazines was correctly declared unconstitutional. Notice the hypocrisy: Like ammunition for self-defense, Attorney General Becerra wants as many judges as possible when it serves himself,” said Jason Ouimet, executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action.

This wasn’t Becerra’s first attempt to curtail your rights, however. As America’s 1st Freedom reported earlier this year, Becerra egregiously mischaracterized history in an attempt to limit your freedoms. He attempted to use laws that were patently irrelevant to firearms and blatantly distorted others to suit his will.

Beyond this, his record speaks for itself. As a congressman, he voted against the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), which was designed to protect the firearms industry from frivolous lawsuits that would functionally bankrupt manufacturers.

The California attorney general is just another name in the list of anti-freedom members of a potential Biden administration. Jen O’Malley Dillon, Biden’s campaign manager, has been tipped to join as his deputy chief of staff, and with her comes a long history against freedom.

Biden has also hired Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) as a senior adviser. In August of 2019, Richmond expressed his desire for mandatory buybacks of commonly owned rifles, otherwise known as confiscation. “If it is a buyback, then I’m all for it. If it’s a mandatory buyback, I think then you may run into some complications, but the thought of it does not offend me, and it sounds like something I could support,” said Richmond.

And let us not forget the most-famous gun grabber of them all, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, of “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15” fame. Though he has yet to officially nominate O’Rourke for any official position, Biden said earlier this year at a rally in Texas, “I want to make something clear. I’m gonna guarantee you, this is not the last you’re seeing of [O’Rourke]. You’re gonna take care of the gun problem with me; you’re gonna be the one who leads this effort. I’m counting on you; I’m counting on you; we need you badly.”

This shouldn’t come as a shock to those who value their constitutional rights. For the entirety of his nearly half a century in public office, Biden has long stood against your rights.

Rather, these potential nominations should be a wake-up call to all freedom-loving Americans.

And let us not forget Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris, who previously said that if she were elected president, she would give Congress 100 days to enact her incredibly radical agenda. Most notable among her proposals was her intention to repeal the PLCAA; in fact, Biden shares this desire.

America’s 1st Freedom will continue to keep you updated on any opponent of freedom Biden adds to his team and of any anti-Second Amendment Biden tries to enact.

Cynical Strategies To Subvert The Protection Of Lawful Commerce In Arms Act

Since President George W. Bush signed the bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) into law on Oct. 26, 2005, those bent on civilian disarmament have sought to bypass the legislation’s clear commands. In fact, 20 years later, gunmakers were fending off a frivolous nuisance suit from the city of Gary, Ind., filed in 1999, despite the PLCAA and state-analogue legislation.
