“There is an urgent need for the US to impose harsh restrictions on gun purchases nowadays.” If that sounds like something out a communist dictator’s mouth, you’ve got it just about right, for that is a line from an op-ed piece published in the Global Times, a publication that serves as the mouthpiece for the Chinese government. “The right of life is the most fundamental human rights. The right to bear arms cannot overpower the individual's right to live.”

If that isn’t a case of the pot calling the kettle black—that China’s communist party, which has a long history of violating human rights, is criticizing the uniquely American right to bear arms and calling our firearms freedom a human rights violation.

The publication touts the “fact” that its strict gun control is the key factor behind the notion that no mass shootings occur in China. We guess they have short memories at the Global Times, because one villager went on a rampage in 2015, killing two citizens and two police officers in Hebei province, before killing himself.

Even when you take guns out of the equation in China, the madmen still find a way to commit mayhem, generally using knives—such as in the 2014 slaying of 29 at a train station—more proof to back up the theory that a deranged madman will find a way to kill people.
