1. Hands-Free Light
If you use a long gun for home defense, you might want a light that mounts on it so you can keep both hands on the gun. This Streamlight TLR RM 2 Laser Green System uses the new HPL face cap, which gives you 1,000 lumens (or 22,000 candela) and lets you switch between using it with the laser-only, light-only or light/laser-combo settings. This kit comes with a remote-pressure switch, so you won’t have to reach far for the light. And, while I like the green laser, red is also available. (streamlight.com; $573.04 with pressure switch)

2. Stylish Security
The DeSantis B53 Belt is made of gorgeous premium saddle leather, sized to work with nearly any set of belt loops and is sturdy enough to handle your holster needs with ease. A flathead screwdriver is required to switch the belt from brown to black and back again. It is 1¼-inch wide, so it’ll fit in the loops of your regular pants and shorts. (desantisholster.com; $94.99)

3. Snazzy Trigger
I admit it was the electric-purple color that first caught my eye at NRA Annual Meetings, but the Velocity Ruger 10/22 Trigger Kit’s virtues run much deeper than looks. It replaces your standard hammer, plunger spring, sear and disconnect, offering a two- or three-pound trigger pull that is very sweet indeed. But the best part is the ergonomics of the flat trigger, which encourages a straight-back trigger pull every time and feels great (if you like curved triggers, they’re available, too). Oh, and you’re not stuck with that snazzy purple, as 11 colors are available. (velocitytriggers.com; $149.95)
