Georgia’s Special Election to U.S. Senate Crucial to Freedom

As both of Georgia’s elections for the U.S. Senate head toward a January runoff election, it’s important to look at where the remaining candidates stand on your right to keep and bear arms.

Yesterday, America’s 1st Freedom made clear candidate Jon Ossoff’s (D) blatant dishonesty with regard to his platform on the Second Amendment. The other race, between Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) and Raphael Warnock (D), features two candidates who are also diametrically opposed in their views.

Though not as vocal in his opposition toward the Second Amendment as Ossoff, Warnock is opposed to our Second Amendment rights, nonetheless. That Warnock has been endorsed by both the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Brady PAC is telling. Both of these groups are radically opposed to your Second Amendment rights. Not to mention that he has also been endorsed by Joe Biden, who has made it abundantly clear that he intends to take away your rights should he get the opportunity.

Warnock has also dodged whether or not he would support attempts to pack the courts. When asked if he would support court packing, Warnock demurred, and instead said it would be “presumptuous” to answer the question—this is a page straight out of Biden’s playbook.

As reported previously by America’s 1st Freedom, a packed U.S. Supreme Court, filled with justices who are opposed to your freedom, could functionally mean an end to our Second Amendment freedoms.

Whereas Warnock has not been overtly vocal about where he stands on the issue, Sen. Loeffler has made it clear what she thinks of your constitutional rights.

Earlier this year, she introduced the Gun Owner Privacy Act. This bill would ban the use of federal funds to store personal information collected during background checks for firearms purchases. Long have we known that anti-gun proponents seek to create a national gun owner database as part of their intent to one day criminalize gun ownership, and have a mechanism in place to facilitate confiscation of privately-owned firearms. Loeffler’s bill would have also allowed those whose records are illegally stored to sue agencies in violation of the prohibition in federal court.

Besides this, she also introduced a resolution that condemned what she said were “laws that unduly inhibit and infringe upon the rights of a law-abiding individual to carry a firearm outside of the home.” Though neither gained the necessary traction to move forward, this is a promising sign of Loeffler’s commitment to defend freedom.

“The Second Amendment is our Founding Fathers’ reaffirmation of our natural God-given right to defend life, liberty and property. Law-abiding citizens should be free to exercise their Second Amendment rights without overly intrusive government regulation,” said Loeffler in a statement earlier this year.

The choice is pretty clear. On one side stands a candidate backed by the most-extreme gun-control groups in the nation. On the other is a candidate who is actively working to protect your Second Amendment rights.

As neither candidate reached the 50% threshold Georgia requires to win the seat, the runoff election will now be held on January 5. Georgians need to show up en masse to make their voices heard in this election, as well as in the race between Sen. David Perdue (R) and Jon Ossoff (D). These elections are absolutely critical toward defending our freedom.
