Oregon voters in 10 counties have a chance to take preventive action before gun control advocates bankroll any more restrictions on guns and ammunition. This year, the ballot will include a measure designed to safeguard an American’s right to own semi-automatic guns and magazines that hold more rounds than whatever some political body arbitrarily decides is enough.

The Committee to Protect the Second Amendment ushered the measure onto the ballot.

The measure has the support of some law enforcement officials in the affected areas.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin, for example, was quoted as saying, “The main purpose of the ordinance is sort of raising the flag in support of the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.”

Though there is some question about the legal reach of the initiative—Coos County Sheriff Craig Zanni has said, “I don’t think you can enforce it, but I think it makes a great statement”—it’s clear that some Oregonians think it’s time to stand up to the steamrolling that the liberals have tried to do to diminish the Second Amendment.
