Kash Patel, who was recently confirmed and sworn in as the director of the FBI, is now also the acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

“The appointment of FBI Director [Kash Patel] as Acting Director of the ATF is a great first step by President Trump to reform this deeply troubled agency. For far too long, ATF has focused on how it can manipulate federal statutes to restrict the rights of law-abiding Americans. We look forward to working with Acting director Patel to protect and expand Second Amendment freedoms,” wrote the NRA on X.

Joining Patel at the FBI is Dan Bongino, another staunch defender of the Second Amendment, in the role of deputy director. “The Second Amendment was NOT a suggestion,” wrote Dan Bongino on X.

“Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel,” President Donald Trump wrote in the post on Truth Social.

These latest actions from the Trump administration are further signs of President Donald Trump’s campaign promises to defend the Second Amendment.

“It is a true honor to be here today to receive the endorsement of the proud American patriots at the NRA. These are great patriots. These are great people. We’re going to do things like nobody can believe. We’re going to win this election at levels that nobody has ever seen before. But thank you for that endorsement. It means a lot to me,” said Trump upon receiving the NRA’s endorsement at the 2024 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas, Texas.

These developments also stand in stark contrast to those of the previous administration, where Joe Biden, as president, attempted to appoint noted proponents of gun control run the ATF not once, but twice. Despite the defeat of David Chipman’s nomination, Steve Dettelbach was later confirmed as director of the ATF.

Dettelbach’s tenure as ATF director was marked by numerous attempts to circumvent and stifle the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. This included advancing bans on commonly owned firearms, harassing gun stores, redefining what, exactly, constitutes a firearm and much more. He has also been instrumental in reinterpreting the dubiously named Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which the NRA prophetically warned would be abused in pursuit of an anti-gun agenda.

With Patel now leading the ATF, and Bongino working with him in the Trump administration, the NRA wrote on X: “The days of ATF targeting law-abiding gun owners are over,”

Indeed! We’ll keep you up to date on the latest news from this administration.
