This feature appears in the June ’16 issue of NRA America’s 1st Freedom, one of the official journals of the National Rifle Association.

These are actual Australian ads (above) demanding hunters turn in their guns under threat of criminal prosecution.

Australia’s gun “buyback” was actually gun confiscation. And if you think your gun wasn’t on their list, take a closer look: you’ll find most popular hunting arms, such as the Remington 1100,the Ruger 10/22, the Mossberg 500, the Browning A5 and even the Marlin Papoose.

Why? What gangbanger carries a Papoose?

The NRA has successfully battled anti-hunting zealots by getting Right to Hunt and Fish state constitutional amendments passed in 19 states (Indiana and Kentucky vote on theirs in November), but what good is a right to hunt without hunting guns?Hunters must step up this year to protect the Second Amendment.

Hunters must step up this year to protect the Second Amendment. Whether you prefer black guns or brown guns, semi-automatics or bolt-action rifles, flying live targets or streaking clay targets, we’re all in this together. If Hillary Clinton can divide and conquer gun owners, she can separate us from our right to keep and bear arms entirely.

If you’re a hunter, now is the time to join, renew or upgrade your NRA membership, and circle Election Day on your calendar with a big red marker. Talk to hunters who might be inclined to sit out this year’s election and make sure they understand the consequences a Hillary Clinton presidency would have for hunting and the Second Amendment—and vote to keep your own freedom.

The NRA is Still Fighting for Our First Amendment Freedoms

Though the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 9-0 in favor of the NRA's argument in NRA v. Vullo, the decision sent the case back to a lower court, which ruled the offending government official had "qualified immunity." As a result, this case is ongoing.

Policing Should Not Be A Political Issue

Crime is a complicated topic, but there is an extremely simple rule that must be observed before one can begin to fight it effectively: One must genuinely wish to deal with the problem. Without such an elementary ambition, no amount of legislation, activity, taxpayer money or speechmaking will make the slightest bit of difference.
