“Our Second Amendment was written for times like these,” says Dom Raso in his latest NRA News commentary airing on NRATV. Warning that radical Islamic terror isn’t going away, Raso explains that as the years go on, “their attacks will only become more frequent, not less. More devastating, not less. And more personal, not less.”

“Imagine a neighborhood where the citizens aren’t just armed—but train together on a regular basis.” — Dom Raso, retired Navy SEAL and NRA commentatorBut according to Raso, we don’t have to resign ourselves to helplessness. The veteran U.S. Navy SEAL urges Americans to get the proper training to be prepared for these threats. “Imagine a neighborhood where the citizens aren’t just armed—but train together on a regular basis.” Taking the thought even further, he explains, “They assign military veterans, off-duty police and trained, armed citizens to 24/7 neighborhood patrols. They hire a professional security firm to assess risks and weaknesses to establish a plan of action. They establish a communication plan to alert the neighborhood in the event of a threat—and coordinate with local police. They’re armed, trained and always ready.”

That isn’t crazy, Raso assures, and it certainly isn’t paranoid. It is exactly what the founders envisioned—everyday Americans, empowered to defend themselves, their families and their communities against whatever threat may arise.

Cynical Strategies To Subvert The Protection Of Lawful Commerce In Arms Act

Since President George W. Bush signed the bipartisan Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) into law on Oct. 26, 2005, those bent on civilian disarmament have sought to bypass the legislation’s clear commands. In fact, 20 years later, gunmakers were fending off a frivolous nuisance suit from the city of Gary, Ind., filed in 1999, despite the PLCAA and state-analogue legislation.

President’s Column | NRA Focus On The Vision

I can’t believe it’s been seven months since I was elected NRA president, and I’m already composing my eighth President’s Column. The officers never fully anticipated or appreciated the immense challenges we faced when elected.

Standing Guard | The NRA is Strong

The strength of the NRA is, and has always been, our membership. Without our millions of members, we would not be able to effectively rally behind elections for pro-freedom politicians; just as importantly, if not for our large membership, our representatives in office would not feel the same urgency to listen to us in this constitutional republic.
